About Jonathan (Jowi) Witt

My name is Jonathan Witt, but since second grade, most people have been calling me Jowi!

I’m a forester and a scout! This combination gives me the theory on one side and the practical experience on the other. It provides me with the opportunity to look at the forest from various perspectives.

My passion is nature. I love being outdoors. On this site and on social media, I want to share my passion with you!

I’d love to advocate for more exchange and collaboration for the forest. It’s crucial that we learn to coexist with nature. Different opinions are welcome, but let’s always keep it polite!

It all Started as a Scout

As a child, I used to roam around my grandparents’ farm. We worked in the fields and the woods.

Later, I joined the Scouts, where my passion for nature only grew.

I’m a true Hamburger!

Hamburg is my hometown, and as a forester, I’m a city kid. In my opinion, Hamburg is the most beautiful city in the world!

However, I wouldn’t want to live in a big city anymore. I prefer nature! Nevertheless, being a combination of a city kid and a forester definitely helps me understand both sides.

My Studies in Eberswalde

I’m a forester and eco-agricultural manager. I earned my bachelor’s degree at the Forest Campus of the University of Sustainable Development in Eberswalde. My focus was on working with horses and farm management.

Later on, I switched campuses in Eberswalde. I started a master’s program in eco-agricultural management to deepen my knowledge of working with draft horses. Additionally, I specialized in farm management.

I want to share these experiences here. If you have specific questions, feel free to write to me directly! I’m happy to respond.

My expertise lies in environmental education, and I’m a forest educator. My desire is to share the forest with you. I’m on the lookout for new ways to bring the forest closer to you. It’s an exciting journey, and I look forward to the future!

My Experiences in the USA

My time in the USA had a profound impact on me. I went fishing and hunting, fueling my passion even more!

While the nature is different, the people in the countryside are very similar. It’s a warm community. We were out in the countryside and immersed in nature.

I was also involved with the Boyscouts of America, continuing my scouting experiences.

In the rural areas, I had my first hunting and fishing experiences. This allowed me to learn about various concepts of wildlife management.

So what am I actually?

  • Scout
  • Forest Ranger
  • Hunter
  • Forest Educator

  • Farmer
